DPRD Announces Three Names of Candidates for Acting Governor

The Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) decided the names of three candidates for the Acting Governor to be submitted to the Home Ministry (Kemendagri), Tuesday (9/13).

The voting netted the top three names are Heru, Marullah, and Bahtiar

Jakarta DPRD Chairman, Presetio Edi Marsudi said there were previously four names proposed by nine factions, namely Heru Budi Hartono, Marullah Matali, Bahtiar, and Juri Ardianto. However, a vote was conducted to find the top three names. They were Heru Budi Hartono and Marullah Matali got nine votes, as well as Bahtiar got six votes and Juri Ardiantoro got three votes.

"The voting netted the top three names are Heru, Marullah, and Bahtiar. We will send these three names to Kemendagri tomorrow," he expressed.

Legislative Sets Executive Meeting on Proposed Names of Acting Governor Candidates

He explained that Heru Budi Hartono currently serves as Head of the Presidential Secretariat and has been North Jakarta Jakarta and Jakarta KDH Bureau Head. Marullah Matali is currently City Secretary and South Jakarta Mayor. Meanwhile, Bahtiar currently serves as Director General of Kemendagri's Politics and General Administration and has been the Acting Governor.

"I believe these three names meet the requirements, we just have to leave it to Kemendagri and President who will be chosen. We are just waiting, as this is the best proposal from us as representatives of the people of Jakarta," he continued.

According to him, the Acting Governor would have the same functions and duties as the previous governor. It is hoped that the elected Acting Governor will be able to complete Jakarta's tasks that have not been executed so far.

"After the Acting Governor is appointed, the legislative will make a ceremonial or some kind of coffee morning to discuss Jakarta's problems," he stated.

The same statement also came out from Jakarta DPRD Vice Chairman, Misan Samsuri. According to him, these three names already have experience in managing urban planning in Jakarta and are worthy to become Acting Governor.

"The determination of the three proposed names is democratic, as previously we have also held a meeting with all faction leaders to determine the election mechanism. We hope who is elected can make Jakarta better," he closed.
